What good news! some international airports including Antigua and Barbuda will be reopening this month! If you were bitten by the travel bug like I was then I’m sure you’re impatient to be off on your next adventure. You should try to book as early as possible to take advantage of special offers. The airlines will be enticing travelers with fairly reasonable ticket prices while some folks remain cautious about overseas travel.
I read in this article that some European governments are even planning to subsidize travel in an effort to boost the tourism industry. If you live in Europe then that is certainly something worth looking into!
Not quite sure which destinations you should actually consider at this point?
I know that Antigua and Barbuda as well as other Caribbean destinations are open for business this month or within the next few months. Judging from these international airport re-opening dates, travel to most destinations will be possible by September 2020.
If you live in one of those countries that will remain closed until September then I feel your pain! Maybe there is scope for wondering around in your own neck of the woods. There is also the option of free virtual travel to exotic locations as well!
I live on Antigua and one of the things I’ve gotten into the habit of doing recently is going for long drives. I would usually set out in the morning, drive to a beach on the other side of the island, spend the day there and return in the evening after sunset. I love sunsets and every sunset here is fabulous, I never want to miss any of those!
On the days I have to work or stay close to home I would usually go for a swim in the afternoon at Dickenson Bay. Lately I’ve been swimming out to the Kon Tiki Bar & Grill most afternoons. The bar is temporarily closed of course, I just swim out there for the exercise.
If you plan on visiting Antigua in the near future and you’re looking for accommodation, I’d definitely recommend this studio which is conveniently located close to the airport or this two-bedroom condo which is in a gated community and has a fantastic view. Of course if you are already on island and you need to get away for a weekend, these are also great staycation options!
