Holiday travel plans?

Do you have holiday travel plans? With Thanksgiving around the corner, if you’re traveling you should have your flights already sorted. If you still haven’t finalized your plans then it’s time to get cracking! Once you’re not visiting family or friends then you should decide on accommodation asap. If you’re lucky you may still find a few hotel deals!

As I mentioned in my post last month It’s 55 days until Christmas, it is always best to plan carefully. It is even more important to plan with Covid protocols for international travel in mind.   Maybe you need to get tested to travel overseas or maybe your destination requires you to be fully vaccinated and recently tested. Hopefully you are fully vaccinated already! After all who wants to take the risk of ruining their holiday travel plans by taking a shot at the last moment? What if you have an adverse reaction?   Once you have that box checked, lets move on to travel insurance.

What about travel insurance?

The good thing about making holiday travel plans ahead of time is that you can include precautionary measures like travel insurance.  One of the lessons I’ve learnt is that its best not to forgo travel insurance during the holidays. Airlines are usually fully booked so if a flight must be grounded for any reason, it is very difficult to find available seats on other flights . If (heaven forbid) you don’t get to your destination on time, at least you won’t be out of pocket. Your travel insurance will cover any incurred costs (providing you have insurance of course!).

Once you have your ticket, you’ve booked your accommodation and you’ve checked all the boxes in your Verifly App then you’re set to travel. What about the other stuff though, like the packing? if you wait until the last moment, you may wind up hurriedly throwing stuff into your suitcase. Although if you’re comfortable wearing odd socks, and as my friend would say ‘flowered and Jolured’ outfits then great! If you’re like the rest of us then you want to carefully consider what you put into your suitcase. (In case you are wondering what ‘flowered and Jolured’ means, it’s prints and patterns that do not go well together).

Have you packed?

If you’re like the rest of us, you would ensure that you pack outfits instead of random clothing. Guys ensure you pack a sport coat, blazer or jacket even if you do not anticipate a formal event. A sport coat can add a dash of elegance to a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. You may want to read about the difference between sport coats and jackets. I am always surprised that some men do not know what distinguishes one from the other. Ensure you pack suitable footwear as well, relaxed elegance is a great holiday look.

Ladies include the equivalent of a little black dress (or 2) and a great pair of heels along with your everyday outfits. Don’t forget to pack your accessories! A bit of discrete bling can add elegance to an outfit and take your daytime look well into the evening. A simple wristlet or clutch can add a touch of class to a casual outfit.

Be methodical about your holiday travel plans

Everyone has that one thing or things they never travel without, for me it’s sunscreen and foundation. I have Melasma so I wear sunscreen and foundation every day. If I forget to pack those, I’d have to find a pharmacy as soon as I get to my destination. For some it’s medication, like an EpiPen for severe allergies. If you suffer from severe allergies you won’t want to forget your EpiPen! This is one of the many reasons why it is best to be methodical about your holiday travel plans.

Hopefully you have checked all of the boxes and you are now all packed and ready to go. Now you are ready to take relax and enjoy the holidays. Safe journey! and may your holidays be merry and bright!
